Our Story
Actinic Designs was founded by Dandapani in 2009. For 10 years Dandapani lived as a Hindu monk at Kauai Hindu Monastery where besides his spiritual training, he was heavily involved in the monasteries digital and print projects.

In 2008 he decided to venture out into the world. His first year in the world was spent traveling and studying, and in mid-2009 he settled down in New York City where he decided to pursue his love for design that developed as part of his work at the monastery.

Dandapani reached out to a few like-minded friends and formed Actinic Designs.

Today, Actinic Designs is made up of five individuals that share a common love of creativity and for developing their spiritual selves.

Dandapani
Designer, Programmer & Photographer

Dandapani first learnt how to use a Mac, build a website and design while living as a monk in a traditional Hindu monastery on Kauai. (Yes, I know what you are thinking. Cool monastery! You are right about that.) He has carried the philosophy of living a balanced life to New York City where he lives and coordinates this team from. Dandapani also conducts workshops on meditation and yoga around the US and abroad.

Michael
Lead Designer & Photographer

Well, it kind of all starts in Japan when Michael took a job teaching English. Needing something to do between classes he taught himself basic web design. Upon returning to Australia he managed to get a job as a web designer having only built one website.

Many years and websites later, Michael has expanded his design skills to include much of the electronic and print publishing worlds. His definition of a good day is one in which he gets to play with at least 3 different Adobe products. We should really take him outside more often.

Mike
Lead Programmer

Mike has been working with Internet technology for over 10 years and has been practicing yoga for almost as long. His goal is to bring what he's learned from yogic teachings into the business world. This means helping clients identify their technology needs and providing clients with thoughtful solutions to those needs. When he's not sitting at his computer, Mike can be found teaching yoga or enjoying the wonders of Colorado.

Muni
Illustrator & Designer

For 37 years, Muni lived as a monk and yogi in a Hindu monastery on the island of Kauai. Since departing the monastery in 2007, he has been steadily creating world music and art, as well as writing books about yoga and is the illustrator for Actinic Designs. Muni also worked as an artist, designer, writer and editor for the international magazine, Hinduism Today. His writing focused on yoga, vegetarianism, meditation and ayurveda.

Arun
Musician & Sound Engineer

Arun grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, immersed in the sights and sounds of cultural and religious family events, where he would soak up the South Indian rhythms and street beats in a childhood that led him to end up studying at the Conservatorium of Music in Perth, studying contemporary percussion and Latin jazz.  Arun has played for artists of the calibre of Michael Franti, Jeff Martin, and acclaimed London beat maker Mark De Clive Lowe.

Arun performs regularly around Australia and when not on the road he provides Actinic Designs with custom music and sounds for their various projects.
